Sparks from the anvil while exploring life and America's treasures-South of the Mason Dixon line

Planes, trains, automobiles and….

my girl.

In the 1950′s more people attended Drive-In theaters then the in-door theaters. There were 3,700 in 1957.

Attendance began to fade in the late 1960′s.

There was a magic in going to the Drive-In.

They have gone by the wayside and now a friendly ghost reminder of the past.

  1. This is great. I miss drive-ins. Sadly, movie watching has taken on a whole new life based on the current technology. Posts like this remind us of our history and I thank you for that!

  3. never been to one but I love seeing them in old films – I doubt many people go to indoor theatres like they did in that period either, it’s just so expensive and TV screens are getting bigger and bigger anyway :)
