The College Degree gap….

degreegap

Women earn the majority at all levels of college degrees.

For all four degree levels and for all four race/ethnicity groups, women earn a majority of college degrees.

Overall, women earn 59% of all college degrees, which also means that 142 women received a college degree at some level for every 100 men and the gap is growing.

When there were gender imbalances in college sports favoring men it was addressed with federal legislation – Title IX legislation.

When there are perceived gender wage gaps, it’s addressed with federal legislation and executive orders.

Where’s the concern today about the growing academic gender disparities in higher education favoring women?

The concern about gender balances remains very selective.

The sun will be turned to darkness….

and the moon turned to blood,

before the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes ~ Joel : 2:31

bloodmoon_by_raiyt-d55aa1v

Tonight there will be a blood moon, a red,  fiery lunar eclipse. lunnar eclipse

During the next year and a half,  there will be a total of  four blood moon eclipses.

The first time that has happened in over 400 years.

The April 15th eclipse begins at 2 AM Eastern time when the edge of the Moon first enters the amber core of Earth’s shadow. Totality occurs during a 78 minute interval beginning around 3 o’clock in the morning on the east coast, midnight on the west coast.

Weather permitting, the red Moon will be easy to see across the entirety of North America.

Why red?

A quick trip to the Moon provides the answer: Imagine yourself standing on a dusty lunar plain looking up at the sky. Overhead hangs Earth, nightside down, completely hiding the sun behind it. The eclipse is underway. You might expect Earth seen in this way to be utterly dark, but it’s not. The rim of the planet is on fire! As you scan your eye around Earth’s circumference, you’re seeing every sunrise and every sunset in the world, all of them, all at once. This incredible light beams into the heart of Earth’s shadow, filling it with a coppery glow and transforming the Moon into a great red ball.

If you get a chance, you will want to see this tonight.
